Magical Mexico – 13 Days

American or Buffet Breakfast. Morning visit of the City highlights ; Paseo de la Reforma and its monuments, Ave Juarez, Zocalo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace and its Mural Painting of Diego Rivera then will proceed to the Three Cultures Square, in this place there was the most important market of the Aztec Empire, where people could find a great variety of products that arrived from all cardinal points. The Tlatelolco Tianguis (street market), nowadays known as the Three Cultures Square, owes its name to the fact that the Spaniards built a church on top of an Aztec platform and in modern times many modern residential buildings where constructed around. We will continue our tour to the archaeological site of San Juan Teotihuacan, the “mysterious city of the gods”, to visit the gigantic Pyramid of the Sun – built in the 1st century AD – the Pyramid of the Moon - built in the 2nd century AD – the Avenue of the Dead, the Citadel with its Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Palace of the Butterflies. Buffet Lunch. Upon our return to Mexico City we will visit the Basilica of Guadalupe with its modern and old buildings. Rest of the afternoon free. (The visit to the murals located in the National Palace is not guaranteed due to the fact that it is sometimes closed for political or other events. This may be carried out according to availability).

American or Buffet Breakfast. Free day for optional leisure activities. You can visit the Anthropology Museum, where the different pre-Hispanic cultures that inhabited Mexican soil are represented, take a boat ride in Xochimilco or take a tour to Cuernavaca and Taxco.

American or Buffet Breakfast. Departure towards Tula, the Toltec City that flourished between the years 900 and 1200 AD, where we will enjoy a visit to its pyramids and the Atlantes. We will continue to Queretaro, the “Pearl of the Shallows”, a very important city during the Independence Battles and today World Heritage Site. During the panoramic visit, we will admire the numerous baroque style buildings dating from the XVII and XVII centuries, located in the old town. Departure to San Miguel de Allende, visit highlighting the beautiful vice regal mansions and the Neo-Gothic style Cathedral.Free time for walking and have dinner (not Included) in the old town and to enjoy the night ambiance of the city. Transfer to the hotel and overnight.

American or Buffet Breakfast. Short drive to the town of Atotonilco where we will visit the Chapel built during the XVI century. It is in its walls and ceilings where you can see the encounter and fusion of the European and Pre-Hispanic Cultures. This place is of particular importance because here, at the beginning of the Independence War, the insurgent troops gathered to shape the “flag” that they used as their banner and that displayed the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. We will continue to the city of Dolores Hidalgo, cradle of the Mexican Independence and resting place of the famous Mexican singer and author Jose Alfredo Jimenez. Late in the evening we arrive in Guanajuato, World Heritage Site. Visit of the city to enjoy sights such as the Monument to the “Pipila”, the Juarez Theatre, the Union Garden, The Baratillo Square, the University, the Hidalgo Market, the Alley of the Kiss and the Alhondiga de Granaditas (public granary). Free time to enjoy the illuminated streets of the city. And have dinner (not Included) in one of the nice restaurant in Plaza La Union. Transfer to the hotel.

American breakfast and/or buffet. Departure to TEPOTZOTLAN for a brief tour of this beautiful town with its Baroque style church (today a Viceroyalty Museum). In the afternoon, we continue to Mexico City. Arrival at approximately 5:00 p.m.

American breakfast and/or buffet. Departure in the morning to the residential city of CUERNAVACA -with a romantic atmosphere-, also called "City of the Eternal Spring". We will visit the Palacio de Cortés (exterior) and the oldest Cathedral in Mexico. Then, we will continue to the beautiful mining town of TAXCO, to visit the Church of Santa Prisca, its narrow colonial streets, the Plaza Borda, the Municipal Palace and the silversmith stores. Lunch. In a restaurant near the zocalo. In the afternoon, return to Mexico City.

American breakfast and/or buffet. Transfer to the airport in Mexico City (flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez, not included, the reservation must be on the flight arriving around 13:00 Hrs). Arrival and transfer to the dock of CHIAPA DE CORSO, where we will take the boat that makes the trip along the Grijalva River. We will admire the imposing Sumidero Canyon, a true whim of Mother Nature. On the way back, we will visit the particular fountain of the town of Chiapa de Corzo, of Morisco style, which resembles the crown of the Catholic Kings. Buffet lunch and continuation in the afternoon to SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS. Lodging. (Lunch in Chiapa de Corzo is included).

American breakfast and/or buffet. Morning dedicated to the visit of the indigenous market of San Cristobal de las Casas, the temple of Santo Domingo and the amber museum. Then we will visit the typical and colorful Tzotzil communities of San Juan Chamula (place of bats) and Zinacantán (thick water). Free afternoon. Lodging. Note: In case the visit to Chiapa de Corzo and the Sumidero Canyon could not be made the previous day due to rain, the visit can be made this afternoon.

American breakfast and/or buffet. Departure through a winding landscape and thick vegetation, to reach the Yaxhá River (blue water), in order to enjoy the surroundings of the Agua Azul waterfalls, its impressive blue color and the intense green of the vegetation. We continue with a visit to the waterfall of Misol-Ha (possibility of bathing). Departure to PALENQUE. Overnight stay.

American or Buffet Breakfast. Visit to the archaeological site of Palenque. The greatness of its buildings and the white stone mixed with the emerald green of the jungle will be an experience that will never be forgotten. The highlights are the Temple of the Engravings (Pakal’s Tomb), the Palace, the Temples of the Sun and the Foliated Cross, the Queen’s Baths on the Otulum creek. Departure by the highway that borders the Gulf of Mexico Lunch on Route. Once we arrive at Campeche, Walking visit of the fortified city and World Heritage Site. Overnight

American or Buffet Breakfast. Departure to Uxmal, one of the most beautiful archaeological sites on the Puuc Route. The cultural visit includes: the greatness of the Fortune Teller Pyramid, the magnificent friezes of the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the framework of the Building of the Turtles and the panoramic views from the Temple of the Governor which tell the historical importance of this architectural Mayan ensemble. Lunch. Continuation towards the city of Merida in the afternoon. City tour to enjoy the Residential Zone, Monument to the Homeland, Montejo Promenade, the Twin Houses, 60th Street,Zócalo (main square) and the Cathedral.

American or Buffet Breakfast. Departure towards the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, recently declared Marvel of the Ancient World, where the Mayan culture flourished in its entire splendor. We will visit the Observatory, the Pyramid of the Castle, the Ball Game, the Sacred Cenote (a natural pit, or sinkhole resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath) and some other interesting temples that will take us back to the enigmatic world of the gods. Buffet Lunch and visit to the Ikkil Cenote. Continuation to Cancun and/or Riviera Maya and drop off.
