Mexico City Complete Tour – 7 Days / 6 Nights

Arrival at airport and transfer to hotel. Check in and free afternoon time. At night we are transferred for dinner at Villa Maria Restaurant, enlivened with music from the state of Veracruz and mariachis. You will be greeted with a Margarita Cocktail and enjoy delicious Mexican dishes (2 options to choose).

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning City tour highlighting the Constitution Square, also known as the Zócalo, which is surrounded by buildings with great architectural, artistic and historical value. The National Palace, where you can find beautiful paintings from Diego Rivera; the building of the Supreme Court of Justice; the Metropolitan Cathedral, constructed over three centuries; the exterior of the Templo Mayor Azteca (the main temple in the ancient city built by the Aztecs); Chapultepec Park; the main avenues, monuments, as well as residential and commercial neighborhoods. We finalize with a brief visit to the Anthropology Museum, one of the most famous of the world due to the pre-Hispanic pieces that are on display (we will visit the Aztec Room). Free time in the afternoon, we recommend to continue your visit to the Anthropology Museum or go back to visit the Templo Mayor Azteca.

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit to the Three Cultures Square, in this place there was the most important market of the Aztec Empire, where people could find a great variety of products that arrived from all cardinal points. The Tlatelolco Tianguis (street market), nowadays known as the Three Cultures Square, owes its name to the fact that the Spaniards built a church on top of an Aztec platform and in modern times many modern residential buildings where constructed around. We will continue our tour to the archaeological site of San Juan Teotihuacan, the “mysterious city of the gods”, to visit the gigantic Pyramid of the Sun – built in the 1st century AD – the Pyramid of the Moon - built in the 2nd century AD – the Avenue of the Dead, the Citadel with its Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Palace of the Butterflies. Buffet Lunch.Upon our return to Mexico City we will visit the Basilica of Guadalupe with its modern and old buildings. Rest of the afternoon free.

Breakfast at the hotel. We leave in the morning towards the residential city of Cuernavaca – offering a romantic atmosphere – also known as the “City of the Eternal Spring”, we will visit the palace of Cortés (exterior only) and the oldest cathedral in Mexico. After, we will continue to the beautiful mining city of Taxco to visit the Santa Prisca Church, its narrow colonial bystreets, the Borda Square, Municipal Palace and silver goods stores. Lunch is included at a restaurant close to the main square (Zócalo). In the afternoon we return to Mexico City.

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we drive on the highway that will take us through the millennial woods of Mount Ixtacihuatl and, weather permitting, we will be able to have a beautiful view of the Popocatepetl volcano and the archeological site of Cholula with its famous church that was built, during colonial times, on top of a pyramid. Cholula was also one of the most famous ceremonial centers of the Pre-Hispanic world. Close to this site we will find the town of Santa María Tonantzintla, where we will visit the Baroque style church. We will continue our visit towards the city of Puebla and will visit the historical old town, the Cathedral, the Palafoxiana Library and the Santo Domingo church where you can find one of the architectural gems of Mexico, the Chapel of the Rosary. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Mexico City in the evening.

Breakfast at the hotel. We leave in the morning towards the south of the City to visit what used to be the town of Coyoacán, nowadays part of the metropolitan area. Here we will visit its church, the old house of Hernán Cortés, which is now Coyoacan ́s Town Hall, and the Frida Kahlo House Museum also known as the Blue House. We continue to Xochimilco passing through the famous Autonomous University of Mexico where we will admire the work of art of artists such as Juan Ogorman who decorated several buildings. We will see the University Stadium, home of the lympic Games of 1968. Arrival in Xochimilco. Boat ride along the beautiful channels. Return to the hotel. Free afternoon.

Breakfast at the hotel. At the proper time, transfer to Mexico City’s airport, for your departure flight.
